We're Searching for Wisconsin's Champion Taps Performers! Sound Taps, Wisconsin is a statewide competition designed to encourage Wisconsin students to assist their local communities in the live sounding of Taps for military funeral honors. Most people don't realize that currently only 1 in 4 Veterans will have a live bugler to sound Taps for their military funeral honors. With only 21 military buglers available across our state, Wisconsin students are the next best source of capable buglers. What is the program?
-
Participants
from across Wisconsin may submit a recorded audition to be
considered for the district competition which is held annually in
early May.
-
Each participant
will select and play one of the Armed Forces Service Songs and will
sound Taps.
-
Participants
will compete in two age categories: middle school level
(grades 6-8) and high school/college level.
-
The Wisconsin
School Music Association (WSMA) will support the judging of the
district level and state level competition.
-
One
representative will be selected from each of the 12 Wisconsin
American Legion Districts to participate in the state finals
competition held on July 4 in Sparta, Wisconsin.
