| On Wednesday, July 4, the state
finals for "Sound Taps Wisconsin!" were held in Sparta,
Wisconsin. Ted Duckworth, past state commander, and
chairman of the "Sound Taps" steering committee was the host of
the awards programs.. |
| The 2007 "Sound Taps
Wisconsin!" state champion is
Brian Bean from Hewitt,
Wisconsin. He is 16 years old and is representing American
Legion Post 54 which is in District 8. Brian has
participated in Sound Taps for all three years of its existence
and was also a state finalist last year. He attends
Marshrield Hight School. Brian received $500 and a new
Getzen Field trumpet. |

| Kyle Walsh
from LaCrosse, Wisconsin, received
second place honors. He is 17 years old and is
representing Post 52 in LaCrosse, which is in District 7.
Kyle is a returning finalist, having participated in the state
competition here in Sparta last year. Kyle attends La
Crosse Central High School. He received a $300 prize. |

| Stephanie Leistiko,
from Hudson, Wisconsin, is the
third place winner. she is 18 years old
and represents American Legion Post 50 in Hudson, which is in
District 10. Stephanie attends the University of Wisconsin
at Platteville. She received $200. |

Other state
finalists who participated on July 4 include: |
Alec Aldred from
Waukesha, Wisconsin. He is 12 years old and represented
Post 375 located in Mukwonago, which is in District 1.
This past year he attended Waukesha Catholic Middle School.

| Wyeth Augustine-Marceil,
from Marshall, Wisconsin. He is 13 years old and
represented Post 279 in Marshall, which is in District 3.
This past year he attended Marshall Middle School. |

| Paul Gessler,
from Neenah, Wisconsin. He is 16 years old and represented
American Legion Post 33 in Neenah, which is in District 6.
Paul also participated in the district contest last year.
He attends Neenah High School. |

| Carly McGowan is from
Appleton, Wisconsin. She is 14 years old and represented
post 60 located in Kimberly, which is in district 9. Carly
participated in the district level contest last year. she
has been attending Kimberly-Gerritts Middle School. |
